CEC's Division of Developmental Disabilities (DDD) hosted the 9th International Conference on Mental Retardation, Autism and other Developmental Disabilities, in October 2004 at the Alexis Park Resort in Las Vegas. The biennial conference, provided hundreds of researchers and educators the opportunity to explore current research, topical issues and best practices relating to mental retardation, autism, and associated developmental disabilities.

Featured Speaker David Smith presented a thoughtful and often moving contemporary analysis of developmental disabilities to a packed house on the final day of the conference.
